Introducing the Romulus + Gmail Chrome Extension

Today we’re excited to announce our newest integration: Gmail.

With our new Google Chrome extension, users can easily push requests directly from their inbox into the Romulus CRM. No more copy-pasting email bodies or searching for constituents by their email. You have better things to do.

Installation

Like our Microsoft Outlook Add-in, getting started couldn’t be easier. Simply navigate to the Romulus plugin page on the Chrome Web Store and click “Add to Chrome.”

Click “Add to Chrome” to get started

It is that easy.

Now view an email inside of the Gmail web app and you’ll find a new Romulus button in the top toolbar.

Give it a click and you’ll see the request information pre-populated with details from the email.

Everything from the subject and email body to constituent’s email address. By default, your account is used as the assignment email but you’re welcome to change that. Priorities are also configurable before you submit.

Everything is editable. If you need to add additional context or formatting (like removing email signatures,) you can do so before submitting. Once you’re ready, just click “Send to Romulus”.

From here, you can click the link to open the request in Romulus. Don’t worry, it opens in a new tab so you won’t lose your place. Or you can simply close the Romulus pop-up and get back to your inbox.

Romulus Add-in for Microsoft Outlook

Today we’re going to look at the Romulus Add-in for Microsoft Outlook.

We work with local government offices across the country who use Romulus centralize request information. CRMs are only as powerful as the data they have access to and one major source of constituent requests is email.

Instead of manually copy-and-pasting constituent and request information, which is error-prone and tedious, we believe applications should work seamlessly together. Outlook is far and away the most common email provider used by local government, so we have integrated Romulus directly into the Outlook experience.

Installation

Setup just takes a minute. First go to the Romulus Add-in page here:

Once you click “Add”, you’ll see a modal to confirm you are using the Outlook web app.

Confirming which version of Outlook you’re using.

  • If you access Outlook via your browser (like Google Chrome), click the green “Continue” button.
  • If you access Outlook as a separate application on your desktop computer, click the blue text. You can also find more information on managing add-ins for the Outlook desktop clients here.

Once logged in, you will be asked to confirm installation. This includes a detailed description of the permissions necessary for the Romulus Outlook Add-in to function. We will never access your arbitrarily access your emails or store any information without your consent.

Hit “Yes” to finish installation.

Usage

Once you’ve installed the Romulus Add-in, you will see “Romulus” above individual email messages when they are open.

This will open the Romulus tab, allowing you to push information from that email straight to your Romulus account.

The title, description, and constituent’s email address are pre-filled for you

We’ll automatically set the request title to the email subject, the request description to the email’s body, and assign the request you. You can edit all of this information before sending it off, which can be helpful for removing unrelated information like email signatures.

Click “Send to Romulus” and you’ll receive a confirmation that everything went smoothly along with a link right to the newly created request.
